Many concepts for new technologies are created by startup companies that are looking for financially strong partners who have the know-how needed for extensive development work. Conversely, Siemens generates many innovations that cannot be fully exploited within the company. Startups can develop such technologies to a marketable level. To promote and exploit this exchange between Siemens and inventors from outside the company, Corporate Technology’s Innovative Venture (IV) unit has specialists working in three departments: Technology to Business (TTB), Siemens Novel Businesses (SNB), and Siemens Technology Accelerator (STA).
The TTB operates centers in Berkeley, California; Munich; and Shanghai in order to open itself to the outside world and ensure it can monitor as many interesting startup companies as possible around the globe. TTB scouts search for key individuals whenever new technologies or trends with great development potential arise.
